Mary M. Melancon

Mary Margaret Melancon went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2011 at the age of 70 years. Mary was born on November 22, 1940 in St. Paul Minnesota to Elmer and Margaret (Needham) Lee. She married Eugene Melancon on June 4, 1960 in St. Paul, MN and this marriage was blessed with three wonderful children and five grandchildren.

Mary spent much of her life working as a nurse’s aide. She loved baking, collecting teapots and other knick knacks. She loved watching her grandchildren grow and hearing about all of the things they were doing. Mary was always there as a provider for her family, whether that was cooking a meal, watching her grandchildren or helping in any way she was needed. Her strength was gained from a deep prayer life. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathleen.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Eugene Melancon of Elgin, children; Jeanette Wostarek and husband, David of Austin, Robert Melancon of Elgin, David Melancon and wife, Angela of Austin, grandchildren; Andrew, Joshua, Anne, Elizabeth Wostarek , and Chloe Jo Melancon of Austin. Also surviving are her brothers, Mike Lee of Oakdale, MN, John Lee of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Randal and Beverly Melancon of Houston as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday, the 7th of August from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening, with a Rosary being recited at seven o’clock in the evening at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 8th of August at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas. Interment will be conducted at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
