After graduating from high school in Lebanon, Ohio, Marvin joined the Navy in 1952. He was assigned to the destroyer Erben during the Korean conflict from 1952-1953 and continued service on two more cruises operating in the South China Sea until March 1956.
He started his career at NCR in Dayton, Ohio, where he met and married his wife Darlene. In 1964, Marvin left NCR to join Hilti Fastening Systems as a Petrochemical Specialist. He and his family (Darlene, David and Amy) relocated to Kemah, Texas in 1972, where he continued to work for 36 years until he retired in 2000.
For 39 years, Marvin and Darlene lived on the water in Lazy Bend where they enjoyed sailing with family and friends. Marvin loved all things marine - scuba diving, fishing and shrimping in Galveston Bay, and enjoying a platter of fried shrimp and steak.
In 2010, Marvin and Darlene moved to Dripping Springs, Texas, where their daughter Amy and family live. He enjoyed his home, working outdoors in the yard, and spending time with his family and friend Jack Boze. He treasured being a part of his grandchildren’s lives, whom he adored.
