On Friday, September 2, 2022, Maria A. Loredo, loving mother of five children, passed away at the age of 88. “Pola” was born on April 10, 1934, in Edinburg, TX to Catarina Nieto and Joaquin Robledo. She was raised in Reynosa, Mexico, but moved to Austin in her teens. On January 17, 1953, she married Ignacio “Nacho” Loredo. They had five children, Irene, Ignacio, Jr., Gilbert, Loretta and Lorraine.
When Pola wasn’t helping her husband with his many entrepreneurial endeavors, she was a homemaker. She had a passion for gardening and cooking. She created beautiful flower beds and was frequently visited by neighbors admiring her plants. Her gift of gardening extended into an impressive vegetable garden where she grew all the family’s vegetables. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed feeding anyone who came to visit. She enjoyed listening to music and singing. On the weekends, Nacho and Pola loved to go dancing and socialize with friends. Pola was known for her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Pola is preceded in death by her son Ignacio, Jr., her father Joaquin, her mother Catarina, a granddaughter Lindsey, the love of her life Nacho, her brothers Frutoso and Jose, and her son-in-law Robert. She is survived by her siblings, Juan Robledo, Lupe Minjarez, Paula Garcia, Enrique Robledo and Frances Barron, and four children Irene Guerra, Gilbert (Diana) Loredo, Loretta (Charlie) Guluzian, and Lorraine (Bobby) Garza. She is most proud of her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. They always brought a smile to her face. She is blessed to be loved by many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
