Margaret Rhodes, born August 21, 1906 in Bay City, TX to Sidney and Agnes Vest Eidman, passed from this life on December 20, 2005. Long time resident of Austin, a true nightingale, Margaret sang as a soloist for the University United Methodist and First Baptist Choirs. She is a charter member of the Wednesday Morning Music Club. She sang in Operas and whistled with orchestras. At 99, Margaret could still whistle and entertain her fellow residents of the Summit NW. Preceded in death by Arthur Rhodes, her husband and dance partner of 62 years, she leaves her family very blessed. Her beloved family are: Son, Sonny Rhodes, Daughter, Ginger Rhodes Hurst and husband, Tim Hurst; grandchildren, Claire Williams, Cindy Adams, Kyle, Kelly, Jennifer Rhodes, their mother, Bonnie Rhodes; great-grandchildren: Heather, Amber, Taylor Adams, Matthew Williams; cousin, Mary Ann Rumbo; nieces, including, Margaret Ann Olle Womack, Betty Olle Brown, and nephews. We are all very grateful for her legacy of joy. She was the music of our lives and now sings in the Heavenly Choir. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2005 at University United Methodist Church, Harris Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery Annex. Pallbearers will be Kyle Rhodes, Tom Adams, Mike Williams, Delano Womack, David Ellison, and Jim Woodson.
