Lee Ann Brown Covert was born on April 1, 1955 and peacefully passed away on April 14, 2012. She bravely endured a longtime illness. Her faith and dependence on our loving God grew in the last years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Kenneth and Betty Brown, both of Austin. Her grandparents, Bert P. and Lorraine Brown, founded The Brown Schools of Austin and San Marcos.
Lee Ann loved growing up in Austin. She attended Gullett Elementary School, Murchison Jr. High and graduated from McCallum High School in 1973. She attended Texas Tech University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and later was a member of the Junior League of Austin. She forever remained an avid Red Raider Fan and loved dressing up in red and black on game days. In 1977, she married Danay Covert and they had four strapping sons; Lee Ann liked to refer to their home on Timberwood as "The Land of the Giants." She loved to entertain and especially loved holidays. She was the hostess for beautiful Christmas parties, special Easter Egg hunts, and was particularly known for the terrific Halloween carnivals thrown in the "Circle". Wanting her boys to have wonderful memories, home was not the only place she liked to decorate. Baseball players one and all, she spent hours elaborately decorating her boys' teams' grandstands, complete with noisemakers! She served as a second mother to all the boys' friends. More memories were made when the family took Spring Break trips to Mexico and the Bahamas.
Lee Ann's sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile would light any room she entered. Her sweet and friendly nature reflected that special quality of making anyone she met feel so at ease. She had a flair for fashion and loved all flowers, except loathed carnations. Mourned by her family and a plethora of friends, she left us too soon, but also left us with happy memories. Our lives are richer because of her loving ways, her friendship, and that fabulous sense of humor.
Lee Ann is survived by her four sons Dan, Kenny and his wife Anna, Chance and his wife Ashley, Cory and his wife Crystal; grandchildren Bailey, Chance, Isabelle, Tinsley, Kye, and Channing; her sister Marsha Brown Spradlin; step-mother Edith Brown; aunt Doris Brown; and cousins Sherry and Kathleen Brown. Further, she is survived by a lifetime of friends who will remember her wit, warmth and generous soul.
Services will be held on Wednesday morning, April 18th at 10:00 a.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3201 Windsor Rd.
