Lavonne met the love of her life James Harold Penny while attending church. They later married on July 11, 1956 in Austin, Texas. Lavonne worked as a Payroll Clerk for the State of Texas for over 25 years until her retirement in 1994. She was a member at Church of Christ for the Deaf here in Austin where she also served as a Sunday School Teacher, and was also a member of University Church of Christ.
Lavonne will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose family and Lord came first. She will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known her.
Lavonne is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, James Harold Penny; children, Judy Kay Westbrook and husband Gilbert C., Tony Harold Penny, and Debra Jean Penny; brothers, Dick, David and Weldon Allison; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous other loving family members and friends.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, Texas.
