On Tuesday July 16th, 2024, Lascelles George King Jr., a loving brother, confidant and friend, passed away at the age of 39 at St. Davids Medical Center in Austin, Texas following a well fought bout with cancer.
Lascelles, or Lace as he preferred to be called, was born on November 2nd, 1984, in Kingston, Jamaica to Lascelles Sr and Hyacinth King. They would soon move to New York where Lace’s journey would begin in the United States. After a brief move to Pennsylvania, his family settled in Texas.
Lace graduated from Mansfield High School in 2003 and moved onto college at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he excelled as a versatile defensive lineman. Being inspired from his studies at SFASU, he found his passion for health and fitness. Lace’s favorite things in life were to help inspire others on their health and fitness journey, working out, and gaining his love for the Body Building lifestyle/Competitions. Through hard work, determination and dedication, Lace achieved his Body Building goal and attended his first show on April 29th, 2017, at The NFF Physique Showdown in Standford, Texas. Having fallen in love with Austin, he chose Cedar Park as his home. And thus, with a passion so great for inspiring others, he became a personal trainer where he mentored individuals helping to build character, confidence and the drive to achieve their goals as he continued to achieve his own. With his ability to lead others, Lace secured the well-earned title of General Manager at Anytime Fitness in Cedar Park, Texas. He was well known for his sarcasm, quick wit and the ability to keep you on your toes. Lace greatly enjoyed the art styles of Anime, as well as reading, with Harry Potter being one of his favorite reads alongside many Mangas.
Lace was preceded in death by his father Lascelles George King Sr., and his mother Hyacinth King. He is survived by his chosen person Casey Holt; his brothers Kevin, Loren, Leiton, and Lamar King; his sister Yvette Reeves and his best friend Keith Lee II.
Family and friends are invited to attend Lace’s Celebration of Life service being held on Sunday, July 28th, 1:00pm at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, Austin, Texas.
We find comfort in knowing how much Lace’s legacy lives on through the people he met, the lessons he taught us and the love he so willingly shared.
