His authenticity and generosity shown in his smile and in the sparkle of his eyes. He never met a stranger and was everyone's friend. He was a beloved brother, father, grandpa, and a valuable mentor to many.
Lampros was born March 16, 1960, to Georgios Moumouris and Vasiliki Protopapa in Athens, Greece. He had a tremendous love and appreciation for his parents, their sacrifices, and teachings. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood with his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. As a child, he learned the value of determination and hard work.
Lampros had always been very strong, both physically and emotionally. He possessed a great sense of responsibility to contribute to his family and to society. Lampros was a tremendously generous man and held an overwhelming desire to help those in need, whenever he could.
In 1978, at the age of 18, Lampros left Athens to join his brother Anthony in Houston, TX. Lampros flourished in America and eventually made his home in Austin. While Lampros was the epitome of a proud, Greek man, he was honored to be an American. Independence Day was one of his favorite holidays and he loved celebrating with family and the friends he regarded as family.
Lampros was an adventurous entrepreneur, most notably in the nightclub industry. He had a natural capacity for creating the most desirable entertainment venues and he took great pride in building his legacy. He worked tirelessly to balance all aspects of his life and he appreciated the loyalty, hard work and dedication of each of his employees.
Lampros lived a BIG life, and he did it all on his own terms. He was never shy of the mistakes that he made along the way and viewed each one as an opportunity for personal growth and introspection.
Lampros was a dreamer and believed that without dreams we reach nothing. Although he always had several things on his plate, he never failed to express his gratitude for all the opportunities he had been given.
Lampros is survived by his son, Daniel Cotton of Los Angeles, CA, daughter Christina Ibarra and her husband Peter, of Montgomery, TX, son, Lambros Moumouris and his mother, Katalina “Mama” Pierce, of Austin, TX, and grandchildren, Quinn and Dutch Ibarra of Montgomery, TX.
Also surviving Lampros is sister, Eleni of Athens, Greece, brother Ioannis and his wife, Eleni, of Athens, Greece, brother Angelo of Athens, Greece, brother Anthony and his wife Stephanie of Austin, TX, and sister Ntina and her husband Georgios of Athens, Greece; nieces and nephews Mema, Vasiliki, Maria, Georgios, Margarita, Vasiliki, Ioannis, Dimitra, and her husband Stathis of Athens, Greece, Antony and his wife Celine of Austin, TX, Lukas and Evyenia of Austin, TX.
Lampros also leaves behind a plethora of close friends that he considered family.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish South Chapel, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704.
