This will not be your average obituary because Keith Braithwaite was not average. He was an extraordinary man. Keith brought laughter and light into any room. He was adored by all and loved by so many. People gravitated toward him and by the end of the night, you were no longer a stranger but a friend.
Keith David Braithwaite was born in Queens, NY on June 26, 1981 to Keith Andre and Patricia Braithwaite and was the baby of four children. Keith attended Pflugerville High School where he excelled in soccer and graduated with honors. He later went to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida where he received a Master’s degree in Business Administration. After graduating from FAMU, he followed in his father’s footsteps and did an internship with IBM before starting his career at Apple in the sales department. He was such a great salesman that he converted the entire Braithwaite family to Apple products. Until February 28, 2021, he worked at LegalZoom where the company relied heavily on his knowledge to make financial projections as well as every other function of the company. He also assisted entrepreneurs when starting their businesses.
St. James’ Episcopal Church was Keith’s spiritual home. In high school, he was an acolyte and part of the youth group. Just after college he gave back and was a mentor for that same youth group, where he made lasting impressions on so many kids. As an adult, he was very involved with the Children’s Ministry, having his kids participate in Sunday School and Church services. He was the Treasurer, a member of the Vestry Finance Committee, Brushbusters, a steadfast griller of sausages for the Strove Tuesday Pancake Supper, and an integral member of the Jazz at St. James’ Committee. He was a mainstay in the Church community and was loved by so many.
Keith loved sports and was an avid fan of the New York Jets (football) and the New York Mets (baseball) teams. As an adult he also played Rugby with the Austin All Blacks.
Those left to carry on his legacy and many fond memories include parents Patricia and Keith Andre Braithwaite, his siblings Kim Ramsey (EJ), Elena Williams (Marty), and Lisa Peavy, his two wonderful children Keith Delton, Kai, and his stepson Kole C. Nolan, his Aunt Aziza Braithwaite Bey (Robert) and Uncles Ben Giles (Odessa) and Naceo Giles (Inge), and many cherished Great-Aunts and Uncles, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
