Karen Ann Olman Mayer passed away on May 21, 2023. She is survived by her daughter Lauren Mayer-Cano; grandchildren Sebastian and Anna Cano; her mother Dolores “Rusty” Olman and brother of Mark Olman. Her father, Lt. Col. Lothar “Andy” Olman passed away ten years ago.
She was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. Every moment with her family was embraced and treasured. Being Oma to her two grandchildren was one of the most important parts of her life. Family was everything to her.
Born on November 16, 1956 in Selma, Alabama, Karen would go onto graduate from The University of Texas at Austin. While she moved around the world growing up, she settled and made Austin, Texas her permanent home. She had a strong work ethic and made friends everywhere she went. She wore her heart on her sleeve. When not with her family, Karen loved being in her garden, with friends and with her dogs. She was a long-time member of the Texas Exes.
Karen was the most compassionate and caring person. She will always be remembered for her kindness and love for her family. Words cannot express how much she will be missed, until we meet again in Heaven.
