Jose Cardenas

Jose was born in Anáhuac, Nuevo León to Juan Jose Cardenas and Felicitas Trevino de Cardenas. He moved to Texas in 1950 where he grew up in Laredo and San Antonio. Jose moved to Austin in 1967 to attend the University of Texas, from which he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and later a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1983. He worked as a therapist at The Brown Schools and Meridell where he focused on children and families.

Jose enjoyed playing piano, singing, traveling, recounting the adventures of his life and making others laugh. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather and friend to many.

Jose was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his brother Jorge Alberto Cardenas, sister Lourdes Cardenas Benjamin and her husband Lee Craig Benjamin; sister Socorro Cardenas Calderon, her husband Carlos E. Calderon and their son Carlos Andres Calderon. Jose is also survived by, the mother to his two sons, Judy Norea Cardinale; son Carlos Miguel Cardenas and his wife Estela Raquel Cardenas; son Pablo Esteban Cardenas; his two grandchildren Miguel Santiago Cardenas and Sophia Abigail Cardenas.

Jose touched many lives and will truly be missed.
