John Coleman Horton IV, born on November 25, 1983, in Austin, Texas, passed away on July 3, 2024. Coleman was a lifelong resident of Austin, where he built a life filled with love, dedication, and passion. Coleman is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Horton, and their three cherished daughters, Parker, Emma, and Virginia. He is also survived by his parents, Nancy and John Horton, his brother, Perry Horton (wife Lauren). His family was his greatest treasure, and he dedicated his life to teaching his daughters about the wonders of the world, particularly fostering their interests in science and engineering activities.
Coleman graduated from Westlake High School. During that time, he became an Eagle Scout with Troop 5 Austin, where he made lifelong friends and participated in many high adventures, including Philmont Scout Ranch and trekking the French Alps.
Coleman graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, where he obtained a dual degree in Mechanical Engineering and Plan II Honors. Additionally, he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and Kappa Alpha Order. Coleman found his professional calling at M3 Design, where he worked throughout his entire career. His colleagues at M3 Design were his second family, and he took great pride in his work and the bonds he formed there.
Coleman’s life will be celebrated at a service on July 16, 2024, at 2 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 1500 W Anderson Lane, Austin, TX 78757.
Coleman will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and the joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He embraced Jesus Christ as his Savior and Redeemer, and he will be greatly missed.
