John Thomas Edwards

After high school graduation from McCallum High School, John served in the US Navy as an electronics technician.

John returned to Austin after his military service and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until he retired from AT&T in 1999.

Upon his retirement, John stated he would never wear a tie again and he never did. He spent his retirement years as a “gentleman rancher”. He and his faithful companion Blue spent time sitting on the porch in a rocker, watching the grass grow.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Edwards; daughter, Katie Bonnet; son, Edward Atwood (Maria); step daughter, Stacy Christie (Travis Young). John is also survived by his grandchildren: Max Lauderbaugh, Aja Bonnet, Izzy Bonnet, Kaitlyn Atwood, Kayla Atwood, Nate Atwood, and Phoenix Christie-Young.

Visitation will be held on January 11 from 11AM to 12PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 North Lamar Austin, Texas. Graveside services will follow 1PM on January 11 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin TX 78731.
