John Russell Davis died at Buckner Villas on February 23, 2006 at age 82. He was born in eastern Travis County on April 18, 1923 to parents John Luther Davis and Imogene Jones Davis who preceded him in death. Most of his life was spent in Austin, Texas except for service in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Following the war he worked as a salesman, mainly at Kwik Wash Laundries, Inc., until retirement in 1988. After retirement he was an associate broker at Ranch Investments. Survivors include wife Ethel Eppright Davis, daughter Linda von Kreisler and husband Nicolai von Kreisler and grandchildren Elizabeth and Christian von Kreisler, all of Austin, brother Joe A. Davis of Taylor and wife Elnora and stepsons John M. Leigh of Austin and Dr. Jim Leigh and wife Jane of College Station, Texas. He was a 50 year member of Colorado Masonic Lodge 96, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ben Hur Shrine and Windsor Park Baptist Church. Graveside services for family and friends will be Sunday, February 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Austin Memorial Park with Chaplain Kenneth Harpster of Buckner Villas presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner Hospitals for Children, 6977 Main Street, Houston, TX 77030-3701 or to the Alzheimers Association, Greater Austin Chapter, 3420 Executive Center Dr., Suite 301, Austin, TX 78731.
