Janice was born in 1935 in Lake City, Iowa. When she was a teenager, her parents relocated to Elk River, Minnesota where she met her future husband Richard Huseth in 10th grade homeroom. Their romance began senior year when Richard asked her to the senior prom. Janice was the salutatorian of her graduating class at Elk River High and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in teaching at St. Cloud State Teacher’s College. She taught 9th grade English for two years until she became pregnant with her first child, Deborah. After their second child, David, was born, Janice and Richard moved their growing family to Massachusetts, where Jennifer was born, and then to Apalachin, NY, where their youngest child, John, was born. In 1978, they moved to their final home in Austin, TX.
In Austin, Janice learned to needlepoint and quickly became a master. She made countless beautiful creations and taught many Austin ladies the art of needlepoint. Janice loved Christmas, and each year she decorated her house with multiple Christmas trees, needlepoint ornaments and pillows, and hundreds of Santa Clauses. She was an excellent baker and party caterer, and she taught her granddaughters how to make the most amazing cinnamon rolls. She was an avid Longhorn sports fan and was known to shout at the TV when the games weren’t going their way. Janice adored her six grandchildren and attended years of band concerts and competitions, football games, track meets, plays, and dance recitals. She will be dearly missed.
