James Weldon Hailey, 79, of Austin went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, the twenty-fifth of September 2010. He was born on the seventeenth of December 1930 in Dallas, Texas. Weldon served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict which led to a career in Air Traffic Control for the FAA. His passion was architectural design and serving at his church and serving others. He was a long time member of Great Hills Baptist Church and the Trendsetters.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nelda Hailey; one son, Chris Hailey and his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Becky Collie and her husband, James, and Traci Kelsheimer and her husband, Richard; one brother, Bob Hailey; six grandchildren, Courtney and her husband, Benji, Cristi and her husband, William, Nikki, Justin and his fiancé, Kerri, April and her fiancé Louis, Brittany; three great-grandchildren, Brody, Zoe and Noah; and many other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the twenty-eighth of September 2010, in the Great Hills Baptist Church, 10500 Jollyville Road, Austin. Interment and committal services will be held half past two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the twenty-eighth of September 2010, in the Elgin City Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin. In lieu of flowers and the usual remembrances, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
