James Wilford Brown, Sr., 84, of Austin, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, after battling lung cancer and COPD for the past couple of years. He will be remembered as a much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
James was born in Elmore, Oklahoma to Charles and Ester Shelton Brown on January 13, 1930. He was one of ten brothers and sisters. James met and married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Murchison, on December 22, 1951 in Austin. They were partners in their construction business for many years. James retired as a General Contractor.
James was preceded in death by Shirley in 2007. They were married for 55yrs. He is survived by his children; James W. Brown, Jr. and his wife Kristi and their sons; Jarrod and his wife Mallory and their daughter, Maddie; Justin and Jacob. Tracey Ann Brown; David Brown and his wife Tracy and their daughter Mackenzie. James is also survived by brothers Wayne Brown; Otha Brown and his wife Veneda; as well as his sister Zona White and her husband Jim.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 7th from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Interment will be Saturday at 9:30am at Austin Memorial Park (2800 Hancock Drive) with a Memorial Service that afternoon at 2:30pm celebrating James’ life at United Memorial Methodist Church (6100 Berkman Drive).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Memorial United Methodist Church, Hospice Austin or to the charity of choice would be appreciated.
