Gabriella Crabtree

Gabby was a lifelong Austinite and was attending Emory University as a sophomore nursing major in Atlanta at the time of her death. She graduated in the inaugural Class of 2020 at KIPP Austin Brave High School, attended KIPP Arts and Letter Middle School, St. Francis School, Hornsby Elementary School, and St. James Episcopal School. During her school years, she played varsity volleyball and basketball, ran the Austin half marathon with Marathon High, and participated in Girls Scouts as a brownie, junior and cadette.

While at Emory, Gabby was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority where she served as the Public Relations Coordinator, Director of Photography, Sisterhood Programming Coordinator, Maintenance and Repair Coordinator and a member of the Standards Board. She also served as a Group Leader for Emory Friends for myLife and was a Business Operations Analyst summer intern for Accenture Austin.

Gabby enjoyed shopping and never met a shopping mall or Target store that she didn’t like. She loved fashion, hair, makeup, photography, photo editing, and Squishmallows. She aspired to be a nurse so that she could help others as the nurses had helped her through her childhood medical issues. She never met a stranger, had an infectious laugh, a wry sense of humor and always left you with a smile on your face.

Gabby was proceeded in death by her paternal grandfather, Bert Crabtree, her maternal grandfather, Ewell Spivey, Sr., and her uncle Wayne Crabtree. She is survived by her mother, Kathryn Spivey Crabtree of Austin, her father and stepmother, Vernon and Jessica Crabtree of Round Rock, paternal grandmother, Bernice Crabtree of Llano, and maternal grandmother, Kathleen Spivey of Shallowater, grandparents Phyllis and Jess Moore of Wimberly, her fur-sisters Lizzy and Olive, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for Gabriella will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. There will be a gathering at Gabby's house, 14209 Vandever St., Austin, Texas, 78725, after the visitation from 7:30-9:00.

A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. A graveside service will occur Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 3:30 PM at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S Interstate 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, Texas 78704. The repass meal after the burial will be at South Austin Church, 6711 Menchaca Rd, Austin, Texas, 78745 at 5:00 PM.
