Her journey began March 11, 1940 as Elizabeth Marie Green, the fourth child to Ceola and Horace Green, Sr. in Kyle, Texas. She was introduced to the Lord by her parents at an early age and joined Sledge Chapel Baptist Church, where she was baptized. It was at that time she accepted the Lord.
Elizabeth received her formal education in Hays County Public School system and went on to further her education at St. Phillip’s College, San Antonio, Texas. She entered the workforce working for The State of Texas and a Business owner. Later on Elizabeth changed her career paths working with Motorola and Advanced Micro Devices for many years. She retired from the State of Washington. She was a member of Tree Mont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas and most importantly, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Elizabeth has since enjoyed being involved in her children lives as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married John McGarity, Jr. and to this union two children were born. She later married Willie O. Collins, Sr. and to this union two children were born.
Elizabeth was a woman of extraordinary grace and dignity sent to us by God. On June 24, 2024, God decided that the prepared place He had promised was ready. A place where pain and suffering will no longer exist. In this place, prepared by God, will be unending joy that she will happily share with her mother, father, one sister, five brothers, three children, and two grandchildren who have gone on before her.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories: sons, Willie Collins, Jr. of Waco, Texas, Derick McGarity (Kimberly), and Terence Collins Sr.; daughters, Johnnie Mae McGarity, and Denise Collins all of Austin, Texas; one sister Carrie White of New Braunfels, Texas; one brother Howard of Kyle, Texas thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and host of relatives and friends.
