Edmundo Zavala, longtime South Austin resident, passed away March 18, 2018 at the age of 89. He was born on November 25, 1928 in Georgetown, Texas. He was one of 13 children born to the late Manuel and Amelia Zavala. He was the beloved husband of Carmen Moreno Zavala for over 65 years. Edmundo will forever be remembered by his brothers Daniel, Larry, Johnny and David. His beloved children John Edward Zavala (Missy) and Jane Gloria Hernandez (Miguel IV). He treasured his grandchildren Crystal, John Edward Jr. (Fritz), Miguel V, Emily and Sierra, his great grandchildren Alexandra, Madison, Marissa, Julian and Jayce Edward along with numerous nephews, nieces and countless friends.
Edmundo loved being outdoors, his ranch animals, he loved dancing, laughing and most of all loved having fun with family, friends and sharing his life experiences with everyone. He will definitely be missed by all! Edmundo was a devoted Catholic and found comfort in his daily prayers to the Virgen de Guadalupe. Extremely proud of his Hispanic heritage, he was a founding member of The Austin Charro Association.
Edmundo touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. He always maintained a sense of humor all the way to the end.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 7:30 p.m. at St Paul's Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Dr., Austin, Texas.
Mass at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Interment at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 South Interstate 35, Austin, Texas. Reception to follow at St. Paul's Reception Hall.
