Edgar Williamson

Edgar was born on July 30, 1933 in Sour Lake, Texas, to Rachel Elizabeth and C.J. Williamson. He was the oldest of two children. He served in the military and attended Lamar University, where he Graduated with a Bachelor degree in Accounting. He earned his CPA license and worked with several accounting firms but spent the majority of his professional career at KPMG.

He married his childhood schoolmate, Mary “Eleanor” Williamson, and they were married for 64 years. They first settled in Pasadena, Texas and later moved to Midland, Texas, where Edgar became the Managing Partner of KPMG Peat Marwick. Edgar was responsible for the largest Oil & Gas Accounting firm in the Country.

Together, Edgar and Eleanor had three children: Catherine Harrell; Keith, with his wife, Kristen Williamson; and Joseph, with his wife, Shawna Williamson. He has 8 grandchildren: Charles Harrell, Michael Harrell, Kathleen Williamson, Justin Williamson, Samuel Williamson, Ashley Williamson, Abigail Williamson, Travis Williamson, and Maggie Williamson.

Edgar Williamson continued to work as an Oil and Gas CPA until his passing. His passion was being a CPA and his hobbies were fishing, hunting and spending time with his kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his family.

He passed away on Thursday, December 19th, 2024, surrounded by all of his family at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas. May he rest in peace.

A funeral service for Edgar will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Weed-Corley-Fish South Chapel, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704. His final resting place will take place 2:00 PM December 23, 2024 in Rosedale Cemetery, 505 Old Beaumont Rd. Sour Lake, Texas 77659, under the direction of Broussards Funeral Home.
