Dr. Ken Womack of Austin, Texas was born on February 7, 1921 in Apple Springs, Texas and died May 2, 2015 in Austin, Texas. He was the second of five sons of Lucas and Buena Sullivan Womack.
He grew up in Apple Springs and graduated from Groveton High School. He enrolled at Texas A&M University and finished the first semester when WWII began. He went into the service and was stationed at Salt Lake City in the U.S. Army Air Corps. It was in Houston, Texas that he met his future wife. On December 9, 1944 at St. Paul's Methodist Church of Houston, he married Eleanor Marie Keeland of Crockett, Texas.
Dr. Womack graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. He received his D.D.S. in 1950. He practiced dentistry in Crockett for 3 years and then went on to practice in Lake Jackson, Texas for the next 23 years. In 1975, he had the opportunity to serve as dentist for the Texas State Health Department in Austin.
He was a very friendly person, loved his family along with the University of Texas, Vail and Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Womack. He is survived by son, Ken Womack, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Jim Bowen; grandsons, Blake Bowen and Andrew Bowen, all of Austin.
