Dorothy Alice Ayers Browning, 92, of Austin passed away December 8, 2013. She was born May 1, 1921 in Austin, Texas, Travis County to JOHN H. AYERS and ALICE MUSSETT AYERS. She attended elementary school at John B. Winn, University Jr. High School, and graduated from Austin High School in 1940. She was a member of the Red Jackets at Austin High. After being employed by several Federal agencies, she retired from Federal Highway Administration in Austin. Since retirement, she was affiliated with National Association for Retired Federal Employees, Capital Chapter 1415, Austin, Texas.
She was a member of the Church of Christ for sixty years, recently associated with the Southwest Church of Christ, Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and all nine siblings. Dorothy is survived by her husband, C.R. Browning, and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 14th in the Walnut Creek Baptist Church Cemetery on North Lamar in Austin. Her nephew Kimbrough Johns will officiate.
