Donna Sue Beasley Watson, lovingly known as “Sue,” “Susie,” and “Nanny,” passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas, on December 27, 2024, at the age of 83. Born in Austin on December 1, 1941, Sue lived a vibrant life rooted in family, friendship, and community.
The youngest child of John Sr. and Catherine Beasley, Sue is survived by her siblings, John Beasley Jr. and Martha Neeper. She married Jeff Wells in 1960, with whom she had her beloved daughter, Connie. In 1990, Sue found love again with John Watson, enjoying many happy years together until his passing in 2010.
Susie is survived by her daughter, Connie Julian (Greg); grandchildren Cody Julian (Brandon) and Mallory Treme (Logan); great-grandchildren Emma and Jaxon Treme; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also cherished her lifelong friendships, especially with her best friends, Gail Lerche and the late Judy Driskill.
A lifelong Austinite, Sue’s career included managing a dental office and owning Sue Bee’s, a fine jewelry gift shop in Northwest Hills. She went on to work in the family business at H. Richards Oil Company and later, Arrow Oil Company.
Susie was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, the Headliners Club, Westwood Country Club, and the Austin Rodeo Founders Club. Known for her quick wit, love of gatherings, and appreciation for friends and family, Sue brought joy, smiles and laughter wherever she went.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive in Austin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Stroke Association.
Sue’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brookdale Westlake Hills, Silverleaf Eldercare, and Comforts of Home Hospice for their compassionate care.
