David Gordon Wilson, was born on January 20, 1939, in Beaumont, Texas, to Evelyn Martha Wilson and I.G. Wilson. He passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024 at the age of 85. A proud son of Beaumont, David was a standout athlete. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1957, where he was an integral part of the school’s beloved Royal Purple football team.
David’s love for football and dedication to excellence carried him to Texas A&M University on a full scholarship, where he played football and forged lifelong friendships. His memories of The Junction Boys and working under Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings formed his dedication to the sport. After earning his undergraduate degree, he continued his academic and football journey at Texas Tech University, where he obtained an MBA in Finance, graduating at the very top of his class in 1961. A true Red Raider at heart, David’s deep connection to Texas Tech remained with him throughout his life.

His global experiences were central to his identity, and his love for seeing the world was shared with friends and family alike. Over the years, he visited almost every continent, immersing himself in cultures and landscapes that expanded his horizons.
Professionally, David's legacy in the world of finance and development was profound. His last position was as a Financial Director for the Denver International Airport, where he played a pivotal role in managing the development and construction of the longest airport runway in the United States. David’s expertise and leadership were critical in shaping the growth of one of the busiest and most innovative airports in the world.
