David G. Samaniego, 74 of Austin went to be with his Lord on June 13, 2011. He was born on December 29, 1936 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Ismael Venegas and Cruz Carbajal Samaniego. He joined the US Air Force in 1956 and retired after 24 years as a Master Sergeant and a radar technician to move to Austin. In 1988 he went to work at the US Post Office, South East Station as a carrier. He retired in 1994 He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Luis, and sister,
Teresa. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Amelia Samaniego; sons, David Samaniego of Hillsboro, Texas and Rick and Lisa Samaniego of Waco, Texas; daughters, Anamaria Cardenas of Austin, Teresa and Alan Smith of Burnet, and Cassandra Samaniego of Waco; his brothers, Ismael, Manuel, Polo, Rafael; his sisters, Julia and Cruz; 3 grandchildren, Jessica, Jesus and Daniella; 6 great- grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring Nurses and CNA's at North Austin Medical Center and Heart to Heart Hospice. Special Thanks to Rodney McGee of Hill Country Fellowship in Burnet and the Solis family Austin. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the evening until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 16th of June at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be conducted at seven o’clock in the evening in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden following the visitation. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in David’s name to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
