David Edward Burnett, 73, of Austin, went to be with his Lord Saturday, September 10, 2011 after a long battle with numerous illnesses. The family takes comfort that God, our heavenly Father, has welcomed David home to join his son, Travis David “T.D.” Burnett and other family members.
David was born November 25, 1937, in Brownwood, Texas to Euel “Bill” Burnett and Lorene Ford Burnett. He grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from Travis High School. David went on to earn a BBA in Management at the University of Texas at Arlington, and after college became an insurance adjuster for Farmers Insurance Group. Later, David opened his own business, Service Adjustment Company, where he continued to work as an insurance adjuster.
David was known for his love of hunting and fishing, guns and good food. He was especially known for trying to perfect the perfect bowl of Texas chili and for his enduring fascination with cooking shows and the Food Network. He served his country and community for several years in the Texas National Guard and was honored to volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 990 where his son achieved the status of Eagle Scout.
David was preceded in death by his beloved son, Travis David “T.D” Burnett, and parents, Euel “Bill” and Lorene Ford Burnett. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Ann Burnett; two daughters, Deanne Kyle and husband Kevin and Lenore Chiles and husband Chris; five grandchildren, Erin and Brett Kyle, and Abigail, Emma, and Luke Chiles.
