Dale Parker

Carlos Dale Parker M.D. died on December 17, 2011 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Burns Parker; daughter Susan Parker Wise and her husband Jeffrey C. Wise, daughter Mary Jane Parker Williams and her husband Anderson T. Williams; and his grandchildren, Marietta Merritt Wise and William Parker Wise, all of Austin. He also leaves behind nephews and nieces, Thomas G. Parker, Jr., Stephen S. Parker, Martha Parker Franklin, William M. Burns, and Elizabeth Ann Burns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos G. Parker and Rose Ellen Culp and by his brother Thomas G. Parker.

Dr. Parker was born in Brookhaven (Bell County) Texas on July 6, 1933. He graduated from Belton High School in 1950 and entered Baylor University. At Baylor he served as president of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the President's Council and Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities.

After graduation from Baylor he entered University of Texas Medical School in Galveston, Texas where he was a member of the A.K.K. fraternity. After graduation from medical school, he served an Internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. He also completed a residency in internal medicine & allergy at University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1964 he moved to Austin and entered the practice of Allergy & Immunology with Dr. T. S. Painter Jr. Dale was a kind man, soft spoken, a man of integrity who had a genuine concern for his patients. He was a member of the American Medical Association; Texas Medical Association; Travis County Medical Society; Texas Allergy Society; Southwest Allergy Forum; Fellow, American Academy of Allergy & Immunology; Fellow, American College of Physicians; Fellow, American College of Allergy & Immunology; Fellow, American Academy of Clinical Allergy & Immunology; Fellow, American Associates of Certified Allergists.

A dedicated Christian, Dr. Parker was an active member in both Westminster and Covenant Presbyterian Churches. He was an ordained Elder in the church.

Outside of his church activities, he served on many community boards. He loved to hunt and fish and be with close friends. He loved art and antiques, especially Audubon prints. Dale was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dale Parker will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
