Connie Lewis Gammill, 57, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Connie was born on November 19, 1967, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Johnny Bob and Mary Kathryn Lewis. She attended Shiner Elementary and Shiner High School, graduating in 1986. Connie furthered her education at the University of Texas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1990.
Connie had a passion for teaching and coaching, beginning her career at Eagle Lake and Azle Middle Schools. She then dedicated 29 years to West Ridge Middle School, where she touched the lives of countless students before retiring in 2023. She was a beloved Physical Education teacher and coached volleyball, basketball, track, and golf, instilling in her students a love of sports and a spirit of teamwork.
Connie was a Christian, kind, and funny woman who cherished her family and friends. She enjoyed watching her sons play golf and soccer and was an avid Texas Longhorn fan. She had a contagious laugh and a warm heart, always ready with a smile and a kind word. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Connie is survived by her two sons, Tyler Lewis Gammill and Jordan Major Gammill; her mother, Mary Kathryn Lewis; her sister, Lana (Scott) Dubberke of Houston, Texas; one niece, Amber Marliese Taylor; and two nephews, Connor Gammill and Tracer Cole Dubberke.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Bob Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, on Monday, January 6th, at 11:00 AM Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the service. Flowers can be ordered through Freytags in Austin, Texas.
