A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 9:30 am, Friday, December 7, 2018 at Community of Christ Church, 2132 Bluebonnet Ln, Austin, TX 78704. Steve Calloway and Kip Rush will officiate. Interment of Ashes will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killen, TX 76542. After interment of ashes, memories and a meal will be shared at 215 Mustang Way, Georgetown, TX 78633.
Carol was born in Houston, TX and graduated from William B. Travis High School in Austin, TX.
Carol married the man she would spend the rest of her life with on November 21, 1959; they were married 59 years.
She dedicated her 32-year career to the University of Texas Measurement and Evaluation Center. In retirement, her and Tommy were able to enjoy their love of travel and golf. Carol loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family and friends was important to her. She was a huge fan and collector of Elvis Presley.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Connie Martinez and husband Fred Martinez; son, Jeffrey Whitt; daughter-in-law Janna Whitt; brothers and their wives, Robert and Jackie McCormick, Leonard and Patty McCormick, and Paul and Rebecca McCormick; sister and her husband, Sharon and Elbert “Al” Derrick; grandchildren, Rachelle Whitt, Victoria (Tomilyn) Whitt, Jessica Martinez, Maddison Whitt, Matthew Martinez and Kenny Martinez; great grandchildren, Ezekiel, Zaylynn and Mikayela; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald McCormick, her mother, Frances McCormick Routh and her loving husband, Elwood “Tommy” Whitt.
We find comfort in knowing that Mom knows who Dad is again and they are together forever. Alzheimer’s sucks!
