Bernice Richardson-Conley was born in Bastrop County to M.C. Richardson and Nettie Clark on July 17, 1932. She was the youngest of three children. Her siblings Scenia Mae Richardson-Miller and James H. Richardson preceded her in death.
Bernice attended Austin Public Schools and worked for the Department of Welfare and later as a domestic for more than 30 years.
Bernice married and later divorced Arthur W. Conley.
Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, son and daughter Linda Conley-Grant and Ronald Conley, grandson Jordan Baker, and great grandson Clarence Clinton.
Bernice accepted Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized by the late Rev. Albert A. Lucas, the Pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. She joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S. L. Davis in Austin, Texas. She later joined Greater Mt. Zion under the leadership of Pastor Gaylon Clark.
She enjoyed decorating and tending to her lawn and flowers.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her daughters, Sharon (Darrell) Davis of Alabama, Marcia (Maurice) King, and Kim (Sherwynn) Patton, both of Austin. Nine grandchildren, Tabatha (Eddie) Clinton, Ronald Conley, Jr., Erica (Dan) Lofton, Tisha Conley, Richard (Angela) Robinson III, Brandie Grant, Lecretia Robinson, all of Austin, and Terrence (Tiffany) Conley, and Shaquana (Jonathan) Mack, both of North Carolina; and 21 great-grandchildren; other relatives and close friends.
