Augustine Garza

Augustine Garza was born August 28, 1932 in Ottine, Texas. He passed away on June 8, 2010 in Austin, Texas. Augustine Garza graduated from Austin High School in 1951. He immediately enlisted in the U.S.Navy where he served honorably until his discharge in 1959. While in the service he married his sweetheart Julia Ramirez in 1955 and began to raise a family. Augustine began his professional career in the Life Insurance and Retail Sales field where he worked for over 15 years. Long filled with the entrepreneur spirit he started his own trucking company “Garza & Son Trucking”, where he was successful for many years. He was also employed with the A.I.S.D. where he eventually retired. Not wanting to remain idle, he continued supplementing his retirement with “Garza Notary”. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his mother Anastasia Garza. Surviving Augustine is his wife of 54 years, Julia Ramirez Garza; son Jose Alfredo Garza and wife Carmen Tamez of Cedar Park; daughters Angie Garza-Wilkison and husband Garry Wilkison, Anita Garza Martinez and husband John Martinez, Sarah Garza Clawson and husband Michael Clawson all of Austin, and Precilla Garza Hauer and husband Karl Hauer of Dripping Springs; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brother Mateo Garza and wife Dorothy of Big Springs, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm, with the recitation of the rosary to start at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at St. Louis Catholic Church at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Austin Memorial Park. Condolences may be left at www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com
