Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Anne Elizabeth Mason (nee DeMark), on November 11, 2023. Anne was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, traveled with her parents to Germany at a very young age, and after returning to the United States and moving states several times, settled with her family in Austin, Texas.
Anne graduated from John H. Reagan High School and went on to achieve an associate degree from Austin Community College. She then began an over thirty-eight-year career with the Internal Revenue Service and retired just last year. During her extensive career with the I.R.S., Anne was a dedicated member of Christian Fundamentalist Internal Revenue Employees group (C-FIRE) and attended every yearly conference.
The words sweet, kind, and caring come to mind when you think of Anne. She cherished her family and her circle of friends and was the best at remembering everyone with a greeting card on their birthday or during the holidays. She loved the simple things in life, time with friends, reading, crochet, and needlepoint. She often used her needlepoint skills to make gifts for friends and colleagues.
Anne was a devout christian and found a spiritual home at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas with her husband Charles and attended services and events there regularly until her death.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Elizabeth DeMark, her paternal grandparents Bernard and Dolly DeMark, her maternal grandparents Harry and Hattie McCain, and her husband, Charles Mason.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Cate DeMark, her niece, Samantha Sansom, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mason and son Stephen, and many cousins across Texas and the United States.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the animal charity of your choice or to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
