Alvena S. Maddox Grace passed away December 7, 2012 at Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet, Texas. She was born December 27, 1925 in Elgin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Fritz and Bertie Mae Dunks Klages of Elgin, Texas; her sisters Margie Gilliam of California, and Carol Roe of St. Louis, Missouri; and by her husband Kenneth Young Maddox. She is survived by her sister Verna Taylor of California; and her daughter Sharon Barrow and husband Guy; daughter Kathryn Maddox of Austin, Texas; sons James Maddox of Temple, Texas, and Steven and Delores Maddox of Cedar Creek, Texas; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them all and was called "Gayboo", a pet name given to her by one of them. The name stuck. She was a lifetime Seventh Day Adventist and a member of Stonehill SDA Church. In 1990 she was remarried to Phil Grace. They decided to see the USA in a Chevrolet pickup pulling a travel trailer and enjoyed the next twenty years traveling through all of the states except one, wearing out several trucks and travel trailers. Alvena was a real estate broker in Williamson County for many years and enjoyed selling homes and land. She served as President of the Williamson County Board of Realtors for a term during this time. She is survived by a husband that loves her still. His name is Phil Grace and he will cherish her memory and she will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home Chapel, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas. Interment to follow at Oliver Cemetery, Oak Hill, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons: Matt Reinke, Glenn Reinke, Bryan Reinke, Hunter Maddox, Robbie Grace Jr., and Andrew Reinke.
