Alice Anne Joyce Moore, of Austin, joined her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 16th, 2023, at the age of 78 after a several year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Alice was born on May 22, 1945, in Temple, TX to Beatrice Hielscher Joyce and Charlie Harold Joyce, Sr.
Alice, a devoted and loving wife, mother & grandma was a lifelong Austin resident. She grew up in the Rosedale neighborhood and graduated from McCallum High School in 1963. She then attended the University of Texas where she met the love of her life, Duane, who would become her husband of 57 years. She completed her degree in nursing and taught Lamaze classes at St. David’s Hospital for 30 years. Alice was very artistic and had many talents and interests. She studied piano as a child and later enjoyed playing the mandolin in a bluegrass gospel band and singing in the choirs at Grace Covenant Church and Hyde Park Baptist Church. Alice also used her construction skills on several mission trips to Central Mexico as well as in rebuilding her family’s cabin on the Pedernales River where she and Duane hosted many friend and family events. Anyone close to Alice knows that she loved the Lord, her family, a good vacation, a good foot rub, and a good laugh.
Alice is survived by her husband, Duane Moore; daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Metcalf, and Christy (Jay) Koenig; grandchildren, Morgan, Ashley, and Kaitlyn Metcalf, Jordan, Craig, and Leah Koenig; nephew, Jeff Joyce; nieces, Windsor Grove, and Chelsea Perkins.
