Beautiful wife of Bob Butler (d. 2007). Born in Toronto to parents John and Jessie Smith, and sister to Doug (pre-deceased), Eileen (pre-deceased), Jack and Bruce. Loving mother to Rob, Don, Debbie and Jennifer. Beyond supportive grandmother to Robbie, Ryan, Brooke, Kevin, Jamie, Ashley, Rebecca and Caitlin, further, her great grandchildren Wyatt, Tommy, River, Penn, Poppy, Bobbi, Madison, Mason, Hudson, Hunter, Piper and Summer. Aunt Jean to dozens of nieces and nephews. Jean carried herself with such poise and grace, looking out for those around her, to only have us feed off of her “get it done” attitude, which she never lost!
Such a strong lady, with class and high standards, that each Butler generation would look to her for wisdom and a trusted opinion. Jean was more influential than she knew, paving the way for wonderful family holidays to Florida, Collingwood and her favourite, Georgian Bay. Whether it was the annual “girls” weekends, the numerous events she took part during Bobs career, grandchildren’s sporting events and plentiful family holidays, she was always involved and engaged with those that she crossed paths (Jean was still beating us at Tennis at 90!). It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our cherished and beloved Jean (Nana), she will be greatly missed.
In light of the current Covid situation, a small private service will be held.
A special thanks to the wonderful Hollandview Trail Retirement Home staff who enriched Jean’s life each and every day.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s name would be gratefully accepted by the Salvation Army.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ThompsonFH-Aurora.com for the Butler family.
