Heather Jean McKenzie

Heather Jean McKenzie (nee Hamilton) passed away peacefully at the age of 95 at Amica Unionville on Sunday, January 15, 2023. Loving wife of the late Gordon, will be greatly missed by children, Linda (Ted Napier), Mark, Gary (Jennifer), grandchildren, James Bunting (Deborah), K.Sarah Bunting Wilson (Troy), Leigh-Anne (Raymond John) & Michael McKenzie (Sarah), great-grandchildren, McKenna Blucher Bunting, Sierra, Sydney & Jordyn Wilson, Christopher & Emily John, & Hailey and Henry McKenzie & her niece Paula Slater Robinson, with whom she had a special bond. Heather was predeceased by her parents Charles Donald Hamilton & Lilian Mark (Irish) Hamilton, brothers Howard Donald ( late Betty) & Hugh Heath ( late Joyce, Bette), & sister Iris Kincaid Beaton & by Gord’s siblings Margaret, Pauline, Dorothy (late Harold) & Craig. Survived by sister-in-law Maxine (late Doug). Heather leaves behind many nieces, nephews & friends. Heather was a stay at home mom, competitive curler, community volunteer, gardener, and travelled extensively with Gord. As lifelong Aurora residents Heather and Gord's proudest achievement was the creation of the McKenzie Wetlands on St. John's Sideroad which the community continues to enjoy. A Celebration of Life will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8 on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
