Great-great children Abbie and George Myers,
Born in 1917 to Hazel and William George Caulfield, Barbara grew up in Toronto and attended Branksome Hall class of 1936. As a young girl, Barbara took great pleasure riding her horses through the parklands of Toronto and competing in show classes at the Royal Winter Fair.
At 22 years of age on February 17, 1940 Barbara married Jack Robson who worked in the dairy industry. His business took them from Toronto to Montreal to Calgary while raising their three girls. The family settled back in Toronto in 1969. Barbara was a dedicated volunteer supporting Big Sisters, hospital fundraisers and children’s programs for well over fifty years. Her welcoming smile, grace, and kindness continually attracted people to her. She was forever making friends.
Barbara successfully worked in the fashion retail until the age of 80. With retirement her sense of style and fashion never wavered. In her spare time became accomplished at playing euchre and bridge living independently in her condo until the age of 103. As life became more challenging for Barbara, her mantra was “I’ll just have to readjust my thinking”; and that she did. She moved to Kingsway Place Retirement Home in Aurora, Ontario. Once again Barbara’s beautiful smile, engaging personality, and positive outlook captured everyone’s heart whether she led the way in exercise class or helped with bingo sessions.
Our family thanks the wonderful staff at Kingsway for their support of Barbara, as well as Home & Community Care Services for navigating Barbara’s care. We are also very grateful to the staff at Chartwell Aurora Long Term Care Residence for their kindness and compassion during Barbara’s final days.
We are thankful for all the love she gave to family and friends and for all the people who gave her love and support in return throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Barbara’s honour later.
In Barbara’s memory donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
