The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Van Alstine officiating.
Mrs.Willie Mae Jones Fryer was born on August 23, 1932 in Waynesboro, Georgia as the eldest child of the late Willie Albert Jones and Bertha Mae Crawford Jones. On September 11, 1949, she married her friend and love of her life, Mr. Robert L.Fryer Sr. and they moved to Augusta. There they purchased their first home and joined Elim Baptist Church where their children were baptized and they were active members for many years. Her spiritual journey led her to Catholicism where she became a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was an active member until her health began to deteriorate. She loved the sacred stillness of serving Christ in this faith and continued to pray and talk to the Lord until her last days of life.
She worked at University Hospital in various positions in the Sunshine Shop Cafe. Because of her leadership qualities and perseverance, she became the supervisor and retired from that position in 1988 after 25 years. Willie Mae was devoted to her family and was an excellent homemaker that enjoyed preparing meals and hosting holiday parties and cookouts at her home. Additionally, she was an avid antique collector, loved to laugh about “old times”, and spend time in nature amongst God’s creation. She loved life and will be truly missed.
Her memories will live in the hearts of her family: her daughters, Harriett Fryer Parham and her devoted caregiver COL (Ret) Gwendolyn Fryer; sister, Ms. Frankie Jones Morgan; brother, Mr. Harrison Jones; grandchildren, Larry White Jr., Armechia White, Alex Bodkin, and April Parham; great-grandchildren, Jarae (JJ) White, Vonshe White, Dominique Whitley, Cameron Bates, Kahliyah & Tianni Thompson and Dash Bush; a nephew who is like a son, Willie H. Fryer (Dealynn), sisters-in-law, Armenta Fryer, Arnita Fryer Thomas; brother-in-law, Herbert Fryer (Lillian), special family members Alvin Crawford, Dan Boatwright, Johnny Fryer, LTC (Ret) Bobby Parham; her beloved God family, the Griffins, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and close friends.
