Augusta, Georgia – Marilyn Miller Garrett, beloved wife and mother, entered peacefully into rest on Friday, March 26, 2010 at her home in South Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 2, 2010 at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Miller and the Rev. Keith Cox officiating. Interment will follow at the Alleluia Community Cemetery in Dearing, Georgia.
Mrs. Garrett was born on February 11, 1927 in Gilmer, Texas and attended Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana where she was a soloist for the Centenary College Choir. She moved from Marshall, Texas to Augusta, Georgia in 1997 where she was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, Vineyard Community Church and was an Associate member of the Alleluia Community. Her husband of 55 years, Dr. Harry W. Garrett, Jr., MD and her daughter, Diane Brem preceded her in death.
Mrs. Garrett was a holy woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was also a woman of deep faith in Jesus and was baptized in the Holy Spirit in the early 1970’s. She will be long remembered for being a champion of prayer, intercession and intimate closeness to her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by three children, Robert Warren (Susan) Garrett, Amanda Sue (Jim) Early and William Patrick Garrett; seven grandchildren, Angela (Rodger) Otero, Suzanna (Jimmy) Alling, David Garrett, Russell Garrett, Marki Garrett, Hillary Early, Hannah Early; three great grandchildren, Camille Alling, Jonah Alling and Garrett Otero.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 PM Thursday, April 1, 2010 with a Wake Service following at 5:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia.
