Mrs. Hale served as a court reporter in the Staff Judge Advocate office at Fort Gordon for thirty-seven years. She also worked for Pearl Tax Service for fifteen years. She was a faithful member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class at church. Ethel was a dedicated Christian wife, mother and grandmother. “EJ” thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and relished in precious moments shared together. Her incredible sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Hale is survived by her husband, Silas Hale; two daughters, Carolyn White Edison and Diane White Hawkins (Ken); son, Barry White; seven grandchildren, Kristie Mays Garvey (Andy), Hunter Edison III (Melissa), Angela Barlow (Trace), Jennifer Hawkins, Jason White, Callie White and Julia White; twelve great-grandchildren, Jordan Mays, Hannah Mays, Sarah Mays, Brittany Bowen, Hunter Edison IV, Cole Edison, Caitlyn Hawkins, Lily Barlow, Breanna Martin, Tony Martin, Erin Martin and Jason White, Jr.; her brother, Pete Jones (Memory); and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, James “Wink” Jones and Callie Cook Jones and sister, Mary Jane Jones Pickens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held 2 PM, Monday, November 14, 2011 at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Cox officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Jones, Jeffrey Jones, Ronald Pickens, Rodney Pickens, Vinson Barton, Trace Barlow, Jordan Mays and Hunter Edison III. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Edison IV and Tony Martin, Jr.
