Danny Verlin Kitchens Sr.

Mr. Kitchens was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He worked at International Paper and retired in 1987. He attended Answers Community Church. Mr. Kitchens enjoyed fishing and riding his golf cart in his spare time. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club.

Mr. Kitchens is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie Kitchens; brothers, William Benjamin Kitchens, Bill Kitchens, Virginia Jones; and nephews, Scott Kitchens, Ronnie Kitchens and Donnie Kitchens. Survivors include his children, Danny Kitchens Jr. (Paula) and Susan LeAnne Bowie (Clyde); brother, Everett Kitchens (Hazel); ex-wife, Patricia Kitchens; grandchildren, Jake Kitchens (Chelsea), Kristen Bowie and Brittany Bowie; great-grandchildren, Kamden and Kayden Kitchens; several nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companion whom he loved, Pete.

A funeral will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11-1. Pallbearers who will honor Mr. Kitchens will be Bernard Kitchens, Steve Morgan, Danny Thompson, Sidney Saxon, Jimmy Atkins, Jay Murdaugh and honorary pallbearer, Chip Raines.
