Branford "Brad" Thompson Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 1:30pm Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. L. Gordon Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ted Thompson, Steve Gladson, Frank Moore, Rick Crosby, Rodney Ashcraft, and Tommy Brock.

A lifelong resident of Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Thompson and Mildred Lee Widener Thompson. He worked for the Augusta Police Department from 1968 until 1974. After leaving the police department he went to work at the Medical College of GA in the medical maintenance department, where he retired after 32 years of service. Brad enjoyed fishing, listening to the police scanner, watching NASCAR and the Braves on television. He loved to coach baseball and teach Sunday school. Brad was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lona Brock Thompson, sons, Johnny E. (Debra) Thompson, Augusta, GA; Charles E. Thompson, Hephzibah, GA, Branford E. (Kathy) Thompson, Jr., Martinez, GA; Kevin A. (Beverly) Thompson, Evans, GA; daughter, Karen Thompson, Augusta, GA; sisters, Elsie (Billy) Mills, Doris McGraw, Virginia (Charles) Gay, Donna Murray, brother, Albert T. (Diane) Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2012 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.
