Corey's journey began with a profound commitment to his country, proudly serving in the Navy with honor and distinction. After his military service, Corey began a career with TECO Energy.
Corey found the love of his life in July of 2010 when he met Allisa McCune in Clinton Iowa. They lived as full a life in their 14 years as other do in 3 times that time with many adventures. Corey had a love of Classic Cars and Racing and raced his own dirt track car for many years in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. He was also known as the best sound man in that same area and did that with his brother Jeff and other bands for decades. He also shared that love for Family and adored his children and grandchildren. As we have been discussing Corey over these last few days we have given him a new nickname, "The Truth". Everyone in Corey's life knew you would always get it and he would always give it if asked, unvarnished and almost always spot on. He counted his time in the Navy as the defining time in his life and attributes much of his success in life, business and relationships, and the people he met and the lessons learned during his time. We will miss his quick wit, his ever present caring and consideration for others, his example he set with his work ethic and steadfastness and of course the one stop we could all go for the "Truth"
Corey leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Allisa Booth; brothers, Mark Booth (Donna) of Humble, TX, Joe Booth (Pam Rudd) of Irene, SD, and Jeff Booth (Barb) of Griffin, GA; as well as his children, Lisa Leab of DeWitt, IA, Nate Booth (Ruth) of Clinton, IA, Corey Booth of Green Island, IA, Amanda Nash (John) of Kansas City, MO, Courtney Hallmark (Will) of Aubrey, TX, and Jon Matuszewich (Jeanna) of Clinton, IA; and 13 grandchildren with another due in August, two great grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Princess.
A visitation for Corey will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823 followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Corey will be laid to rest with military honors at Florida National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 1st at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Corey's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
