Louise Boyd

Louise A. Boyd was born March 2, 1923 in Spokane, WA. and passed away Oct 31, 2012 at Evergreen Corner Adult Family Home in Seattle. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. She married Arthur L. Boyd in 1943 just before his overseas assignment to Burma in WW II. After the war, Louise's life was typical of many military wives - following Art from assignment to assignment along with her ever-growing family (eventually 3 sons and a daughter). Art was recalled to the Air Force in 1951 and Lou and Art spent the next 25 years bouncing back and forth between Sherman TX and Fairbanks AK every few years. Wherever they went, Lou always made it 'home' for the kids. When Art retired in 1966, they moved to the Northwest and Lou got to build her 'dream home' near Kent WA. Eventually all of her children moved to the Northwest as well, so the Kent home became the center of family life with kids, grandkids, dogs, horses, and many friends and guests, with Lou always the welcoming hostess. Lou loved boating and camping with family and friends. Lou was also an accomplished artist and left many oil paintings that are treasured by her family. Art Worked for Boeing and then owned a service station in Kent followed by a Baskin Robbins store in Auburn where Lou applied her artistic talents to decorating ice cream cakes. Lou's gracious and loving spirit will always be remembered. Lou is survived by three of her children: Mike (wife Marcia), Jim (wife Dianne), and Carol Felton (husband Bill), five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Arthur L. Boyd, and her son David A. Boyd.
