Sandra Kates

Sandra Kates, age 83, of Auburn, Maine passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024. She was born in Craftsbury, VT on January 05, 1941, a daughter to Daniel Gordon Hale and Rubie Gilcris. She lived in Connecticut for many years, attending school in Hartford before moving to Maine in 2015.

She met Ralph Kates while he was in the Navy and the two were married in 1959 until his passing on October 31, 1985. They are now reunited.

Sandra enjoyed spending her time with her dogs, baking for family, painting, doing crafts and reading. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Women's basketball. She also enjoyed keeping up with Michelle Obama and Princess Kate. What Sandra enjoyed the most was spending quality time with her beloved grandchildren.

Sandra is predeceased by her parents, sister, Darlene Lacroix, and her husband Ralph.

She leaves behind her three children Kelly Davis (Ken), Dan Kates (Lori), and Kerry Hall (Kyle). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Sean Davis (Zoe), Chris Kates (Casey), Jordan Jordan (Caleb), Ben, Caleb, Sidney (Nick), Alexandra, Chase and Brendan. She is survived by her great grandchildren Abel, Ava, Cole, Teagan and Todd, her cousin Joyce Puhalla and her in laws Sharon Dufrense, Sheila Blanchette, Honey Moulton, Sherry Necessary, Rodney Kates and Rickey Kates, and many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation at The Fortin Group in Auburn will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by an in house Memorial Service at 6:00 PM. Her Celebration of Life and burial will be held in Enfield, CT at a later date.
