Neil (as he was known) was born in Lewiston on April 29, 1943, the son of Elmer W. and Pansy Alger Crossley of Poland Spring. Neil attended schools in Poland, ME and St. Petersburg, FL, and graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn in 1961.
After serving six years in the National Guard, he went on to own and operate an auto body business in Auburn for many years before he began a business manufacturing heavy gauge stove pipe at Elmer’s Pipe in Auburn that he ran for more than 30 years.
Neil was a dedicated father to his three daughters Elizabeth, Leah and Andrea and enjoyed restoring antique cars, travel, living on Little Sebago Lake, entertaining, boating and raising standard poodles.
Neil is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth Riley of Newburyport, MA, Leah Crossley of Richmond, and Andrea Noyes of Poland Spring, his partner of 24 years, Nancy “Niki” Patterson of North Windham, and grandchildren Lily, Clara and Anna Riley, Jacob, Scott and Thomas Sharples, and Grayson and Ellis Noyes, many nieces and nephews, and his pride and joy, his dog, Jackson. He is predeceased by his parents, his sisters Darlene Craw of Milpitas, California and Carol Berg of Auburn, and his son-in-law Christopher Riley.
A Visitation for Elmer will be held on Thursday, May 9th, 2024 from 4PM to 7PM.
