Constance Marie Murphy

AUBURN- With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Constance Marie Murphy (also lovingly known as Connie, Jomama, Grammie and GG), who has joined her beloved husband Earlon, son Morris, and cherished friends and family in eternal rest. Surrounded by loved ones, Connie bid farewell on April 29th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. Born in her family home in Caswell, Maine on December 8th, 1933 to Sandy and Mamie Bell, Connie grew up alongside her siblings Nelson, Lawrence, Elmer, Adrian, and Vinal, in the warmth of a close-knit family.

Her life was a testament to resilience and love. From her early days tending the family farm's potato fields to balancing work at the hospital while nurturing six children, Connie exemplified unwavering dedication. At the age of 57, she returned to school, earning her GED as a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning. But Connie was more than hardworking; she was a pillar of love and joy. Her spirit was infectious, her laughter a melody that filled hearts and her face so beautifully expressive with a smile that lit up the room. A caring and doting wife, she ensured Earlon always returned to a spotless home, a warm meal and pressed clothes.

Her love was a steadfast beacon in the lives of all who knew her. Her days were filled with simple pleasures turned into cherished memories. Family gatherings were her delight, where she cooked with love, creating feasts that filled both bellies and souls. She loved to travel, from long car rides with Earlon to solo trips back up to the county and across the border to go dancing and visiting friends and family. She also made many cross country trips to visit her kids spread out all across America and even a very memorable journey to Scotland with one of her daughters. Cribbage was her game of choice (with slots at the casino a close second), especially enjoying the banter and traditional skunk hat she often got to enjoy her opponent wearing. In the quiet moments, she found joy in church services with her closest friends, puzzles, movies, chocolates and the promise of spring blooms after Maine's long winters. Connie will forever be remembered as a fiercely loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and trusted confidante. Her warmth and kindness touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark of love and her no nonsense demeanor inspired respect. She has left many to continue her legacy including three sons, two daughters and their spouses, Doug & Susan Murphy, Dana & Robin Murphy, Todd & Jenny Murphy, Janet & Donnie Paiton and Sharon & Jim Pittman, as well as 12 grandchildren, their partners and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass honoring Constance’s life will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip’s Church in Auburn. Committal Services will then follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. At the request of the family there will not be any visitation.
