Karl Rudolf Edelmann, age 94, of Auburn Hills, Michigan, passed away on March 19, 2022. He was born in Wurtzburg, Germany on May 3, 1927 and immigrated to the USA with his parents when he was three years old. He resided in Brooklyn, New York until he entered the Army during the Second World War. He also served as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War.
Karl graduated from Alexander Hamilton Technical High School and received his Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering for New York Polytechnic University.
He married Roberta Jean (Chapman) on November 30, 1957. They lived in Germany from 1960 to 1966 and then in Sterling Heights, Michigan until 1979 when they moved to Rochester Hills, Michigan where he resided with his family until he retired to Florida in 1994.
Karl worked for Chrysler Corporation from 1956 to 1959. He then worked for Ford Motor Company from 1959 to 1968. Karl went on to establish K & R Engineering and Development Corporation and retired in 1984.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Oscar Edelmann who was born in Rothenberg, Germany and Kuni Gunda (Burger) Edelmann who was born in Drunstadt, Germany; his brother, Julius Edelmann; daughter in laws, Jackie Edelmann, Sue Edelmann, and Heidi Edelmann.
Karl is survived by his children, Karl J. (Sandy) Edelmann, MD, Kurt E. Edelmann, Kenneth D. Edelmann, Kathleen J. (Kyler) Edelmann, and Kevin A. (Becky) Edelmann; his grandchildren, Karl J. Edelmann II, Emily (Jason) McGehee, Nicholas Edelmann, Jacob Edelmann, Brandi (Malcolm) Riker, Spenser (Carolyn) Edelmann, Charlene Edelmann, Sydney (Chad) Whalls, Hannah Sparks, Parker Edelmann and Olivia Edelmann; his great grandchildren, Caleb, Aisling, Jasmine, Janessa, Rilynn, Emma, Harper, and Carter.
Karl was laid to rest at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan during a private family service.
