It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Joyce "Bonnie" Ann Dunleavy (McIntyre), who departed this life on February 22, 2024, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, at the age of 81. Born on March 5, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, Bonnie was a woman of grace, a devoted wife, mother and aunt.
Bonnie now rests in the loving embrace of the Lord, reunited with her husband, Jack, her son, Sean, her father, Theodore McIntyre, her mother, Ann Marie McIntyre, her father-in-law, John, her mother-in-law, Sally, her aunt, Virginia Donahue, her sisters-in-law Sally Jo Luyckx and Florence O’Brien, and her niece, Katie O’Brien. Her life was one of unwavering devotion to her family.
In her professional life, Bonnie was a respected realtor, who served her clients with honesty and integrity for close to twenty-seven years. She helped many family members find their perfect homes. Bonnie's zest for life was evident in her reputation as a social butterfly and the last one to leave a party. She brought joy to every event she attended. She was sentimental, and always the perfect lady.
Bonnie's laughter and warmhearted demeanor were a comfort to her friends and family. Her affectionate wink and smile were contagious. Her unwavering Catholic faith and support for her family during their times of need was a true reflection of her compassionate spirit. She was often driving family members to doctor’s appointments and was a tower of strength through her husband’s long battle with cancer.
Bonnie left behind a large Irish clan including Dunleavy’s (some in Ireland), Walsh’s, and O’Brien’s. She is survived by her son, Ryan Dunleavy, her sister, Nancy Walsh, her sister-in-law, Pat Goren (Ed), her cousins, Nancy Dunleavy, Julia Kaupert, and Mary Flynn. She had many nieces and nephews that will do their best to carry on all the family traditions. Also, very dear to her were her grand nieces and nephews.
Bonnie’s departure is a solemn reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring power of love. We bid her farewell with heavy hearts, knowing that her light will continue to shine in the memories we hold dear.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM with a funeral mass beginning at 10:30 AM at Christ, Our Light! located at 3077 Glouchester Dr, Troy, MI 48084.
